High Pressure Valves

For many decades SAB high pressure valves are in use on submarines and surface ships worldwide. We put our focus on their quality, durability and service friendliness. Our broad product range has been developed in a modular design that offers opportunities for adapting to any customer specifications. Over the years SAB has developed from being a valve manufacturer to a partner of shipyards worldwide, helping to solve complex problems with our bespoke designs. All of our valves are pressure and function tested and fully meet the customers requirements. SAB realises that flow accuracy is imperative; consequently we will flow test our valves and manifolds.

High Pressure Valves

Summary

All SAB valves are of a compact design to reduce weight and size. They are supplied with full material certification and manufactured with end connections to suit the end-user requirement. All valves are calculated to withstand high shock levels which if required can be qualified by 3rd party shock testing. In the six test areas SAB carries out full product test for each valve which can include flow testing. SAB produces all its products in its own manufacturing plant in Germany that includes state of the art CNC turning and milling machines and a full assembly facility. Product support is assured as all soft goods and internal parts are available ex stock. Our service engineers will perform worldwide service, when required.

SAB valves are designed for minimum noise and in a cartridge insert format for ease of maintenance and product update/change without the removal of the housing from the on-board system. Our housings can be supplied with end connections to suit the end-user requirement. The standard material used for our valves is Nickel Aluminium Bronze, other materials such as Stainless Steel, Super Duplex Steel, Monel are available on request.

Bellow Sealed Valves

SAB’s newly developed shock-proof bellows-sealed valves are used in systems with difficult fluid containment. They are mainly in use in Air Independent Propulsion Systems on board of submarines to control Oxygen, Nitrogen and Hydrogen providing a highly reliable, leak tight performance. We perform helium leakage tests to prove the tightness of our bellow sealed valves.

Pressure Reducers

Pressure reducers automatically control the flow of HP gases at a predetermined pressure. SAB supplies a wide range of spring and dome loaded pressure reducers handling inlet pressures up to 400 bar and can reduce it down to 1 bar outlet pressure covering a flow range up to 150.000 Nm³/h. The flow can be proven on our own test benches. All SAB pressure reducers are equipped with pressure equalized cones with high performance platic seats.

Flow Measurements

In the past it has been shown that calculations and simulations for very high gas flow rates reach their limits due to the many parameters. In order to prove that the valves are operating safely, flow measurements are the only safe solution. On the test benches of Georg Schünemann GmbH, flow measurements of up to 300,000 Nm3/h at 400 bar are possible.
