Well Boats and Fish
Environmentally friendly technologies are crucial to improve fish welfare and biosafety in the aquaculture industry. Here SAB filters play a key role by removing particles and contamination in the water as well as sea lice and lice eggs when performing delousing in a well boat. The filters must be used upstream of the UV treatment to remove particles that can cause shadows in the UV chamber.

Protection of heat Exchangers
Heat exchangers are frequently used on ships for cooling or heating purposes using sea water. Typical applications include cooling of engines, special equipment or heating during the re-gasification of Liquid Natural Gas within the unloading process from an LNG carrier to an FSRU vessel. Here the SAB filter reliably removes solids upstream of the heat exchangers and ensures a high efficiency performance of the heat exchanger.

Invasive aquatic species in ship’s ballast water is one of the biggest problems faced by the shipping industry. Posing a great threat to the marine ecosystem, these aquatic species have led to an increase in bio-invasion at an alarming rate. The implementation of ballast water treatment systems on ships has thus become increasingly important. The SAB filter represents the fist process stage, removing organic particles and sediments from the ballast water. Simultaneously, the SAB Filter ensures the protection and uninterrupted operation of downstream chemical or physical disinfection unit.

Exhaust gas treatment
Open Loop systems utilize the natural alkalinity of the sea-water to neutralize the exhaust gas Sulphur content. The sea-water is collected from the ocean and delivered to the scrubber. The water is then collected, analyzed and discharged. The SAB filter efficiently removes organic and inorganic particles upstream of the scrubbe.Open-Loop-Systeme nutzen die natürliche Alkalität des Meerwassers zur Neutralisierung des Schwefelgehalts des Abgases. Meerwasser wird dem Ozean entnommen und dem Gaswäscher zugeführt. Das Wasser wird dann gesammelt, analysiert und abgelassen. Der SAB-Filter separiert effektiv die organischen und anorganischen Partikel vor der Gaswäsche.

Ships can have a variety of applications on-board. There is always a large demand for drinking water, but also for applications like laundry or swimming pools and other technical applications in the hull.
Larger cruise-ships can have exceptional demands of more than one million liters per day. Such demands are covered by on-board water desalination systems that turn undrinkable seawater into fresh drinking water. In this process, the SAB filter reliably removes solids upstream of the reverse osmosis system which consequently eliminates the salt and other minerals.
